Analysis of Certain Non-Scientific Comments in the Memorandum of the President of the United States of America, dated January 7, 2026, Regarding the Withdrawal of the United States from Certain Forms of Institutional and/or Conventional International Cooperation

In A.U.B.D. – Legal Forum No. 1/2026 published an article titled “Analysis of Certain Non-Scientific Comments on the Memorandum of the President of the United States of America dated January 7, 2026, Regarding the Withdrawal of the United States from Certain Forms of Institutional and/or Conventional International Cooperation,” authored by Prof. Corneliu-Liviu Popescu, Ph.D.

The claim that President Donald J. TRUMP decided to withdraw the United States of America from the International Court of Justice, which consequently went bankrupt, is equally devoid of any factual basis and any scientific merit, as a Member State of the United Nations is ipso facto a Party to the Statute of the International Court of Justice, which is a principal internal organ of that international organization. The claim that the Venice Commission is an international organization affiliated with the European Court of Human Rights is also devoid of any scientific value, as it is in fact a subsidiary internal body of the international organization known as the Council of Europe, but one that is independent, including in relation to the specialized internal judicial body for human rights matters within this European regional international organization.
