Abstract: The European Accessibility Act (EAA) requires financial service providers to ensure that all contracts intended for consumers are written in language that does not exceed Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This article analyzes the legal, linguistic, and practical implications of this requirement, placing it within the broader context of the movement for clear and accessible language. After presenting the regulatory framework, the paper examines the B2 standard and its application to legal texts, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges for financial institutions. Case studies and examples of best practices demonstrate effective strategies for simplifying legal language without sacrificing legal certainty or consumer protection. In conclusion, recommendations are made for drafters, policymakers, and trainers, aimed at supporting the transition toward more accessible financial contracts and promoting financial inclusion.
