Part IV

Corneliu Liviu POPESCU, Ph.D., Professor; Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Cases Against Moldova in 2006

In 2006, the European Court of Human Rights adopted 16 decisions (of which only a quarter declared the complaints admissible) and 20 judgments (finding violations of Articles 3, 5, 6, 11, 13, and 34 of the Convention and Article 1 of Protocol No. 1) in cases concerning individual complaints against the Republic of Moldova.

That same year, the Committee of Ministers adopted four interim resolutions, in which it found that the Republic of Moldova had not fully complied with its obligations under the Court’s judgments and called on that state to take appropriate action.
