Abstract:Thecriminalprotectionof property under French law, which has been grounded in statutory provisions since the 19th century, has been extensively revised in recent years. This paper aims to clarify the relationships that may exist between property in the civil law sense and the criminal protection it enjoys. The “concept,” “object,” and “means” of this protection thus outline a model of property in the criminal law sense that is not always consistent with its civil law conception.
